EL SUNZAL, EL Salvador:

Icah Wilmot got Jamaica off to a good start at the International Surfing Association (ISA) World Surfing Games (WSG) after advancing to the second round, following his second-place finish in heat 17 of the men's opening round at El Sunzal in El Salvador.

Wilmot secured a 3.00 on his opening wave and followed that up with a score of 4.13, his two-best score, which totalled 7.13 which was good enough for second place. It took him into the next round.

Yu Chia Chi of Chinese Taipei was the third surfer, and he failed to advance as he could only manage a score of 6.70.
