THREE JAMAICAN ATHLETES, Jonielle Smith, Amoi Brown and Christoffe Bryan picked up wins at yesterday’s CAS International track and field meet in Schifflange, Luxembourg.

Smith won the women’s 100 metres in 11.18 seconds to lead a sweep of the top three spots for MVP Track Club athletes at the World Athletics Continental Tour Challenge Series meet. Serena Cole took second in 11.25, with third going to Krystal Sloley in 11.30.

Sprint hurdler Brown continued her good form this season when she captured the women’s 100 metres hurdles. Brown, who just missed out a spot to the Budapest World Championships in the event after a close fourth-placed finish at the National Senior and Junior Championships, clocked 12.73 seconds for the win. Marion Fourie of South Africa finished second in 12.82, with American Talie Bonds third in 12.86.

Jumper Bryan was victorious in the men’s high jump after clearing 2.19 metres. Second-place finisher Joel Clarke Khan of Great Britain also cleared the same height.

There was a second-place finish for Malik James King in the men’s 400 metres. He clocked 46.11 seconds behind Alex Ogando of Dominica Republic, who won in 45.27. Former national senior champion Javon Francis ended ninth overall in 46.88.

After his personal-best 9.91 seconds in the men’s 100m at the National Championships, there was another sub-10 seconds clocking for Kishane Thompson at the meet. Thompson won his heat in 9.99 seconds but failed to show for the final, where David Morgan Harrison of the United States won in 10.25.
