THE GLEANER understands that a meeting between members of the Reggae Girlz and the Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) to sort out the impasse between the parties has failed to materialise.

As a result, those members that took Jamaica to historic heights at the FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand, by qualifying for the round of 16, were not selected to the Reggae Girlz squad to face Panama in the Concacaf Women’s Gold Cup qualifying games against Panama on Wednesday at the National Stadium and on December 3 in Guatemala.

The first-string Reggae Girlz did not make themselves available for the October FIFA window, citing monetary and other concerns.

A second-string team then had to be called at the last minute for Jamaica’s two Concacaf Women’s Gold Cup qualifiers games against Panama and Guatemala.

It was anticipated that interim coach Xavier Gilbert would have the full complement of players to choose from by the time the November window opened.

However, that will not be the case with regular first-team players, including Manchester City ace Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw, having again been left out for the Girlz’ two upcoming matches.

The team includes experienced players such as 2019 World Cup members Sashana Campbell, Chinyelu Asher and Marlo Sweatman.

The other members of the squad are: Lauren Reid, Malikae Dayes, Zoe Vidaurre, Israela Groves, Ricshya Walker, Davia Richards, Mikayla Dayes, Shaneil Buckley, Melissa Johnson, Aliyah Morgan, Theanna Burnett, Serena Mensa, Shanice Foster, Destiny Powell, Njeri Butts, Shania Harris, Sydnie Street, Javanae Jones, Lachante Paul and Maliah Atkins.
