Knights, Eagles down to NBL wire
NATIONAL BASKETBALL League (NBL) champions will be crowned tonight with the pair of Upper Room Eagles and Urban Knights locking horns in the series deciding Game Three at the National Stadium Courts with tip-off set for 7:00 p.m.
In Game One, Urban Knights clipped the Eagles 68-63 on the back of a 14-point, 13-rebound performance from the in-form Nicholai Brown.
Brown was supported by the pair of Jadeja McCormack, who had 13 points, and Romone Spence, who chipped in with 12. The Eagles were led by David Thomas, who had a team-high 12 points and nine rebounds.
In Sunday’s Game Two, a resurgent Eagles, with their season on the line, came out firing on all cylinders, levelling the series with a 67-49 result, inclusive of a 21-9 second quarter, which fuelled their victory.
The Eagles were led by Anthony White, who registered 18 points and 12 rebounds, Jermaine Brown had 13 points and four assists, while David Thomas had a monstrous defensive game, tallying nine points, 12 rebounds, and nine blocks. The Knights in Game Two had only two players score double digits with the pair of Omar Barnes and Alrich Morris, registering 13 and 8 points, respectively.
Before the series decider, the NBL and WNBL all-star three-point shooting contest will be the curtain raiser with action set for 6 p.m.
