Another Jamaican boxer set for pro debut
BOXER JERONE Ennis has concluded his training camp in Jamaica and is now in Toronto, Canada, for his professional debut against Marcelo Adrian Fernandez.
Ennis, a two-time Caribbean Amateur Champion, will debut in a highly anticipated fight against Fernandez, who has eight fights under his belt. The light heavyweight fight is scheduled for four rounds at the Pickering Casino Resort, Pickering, Ontario.
Fernandez has a ring record of four wins, two by way of knockout, three losses, and a draw. He was also knocked out on two of the three occasions he lost. Still, the Bueno Aires-born Argentinian promises an exciting fight.
United Boxing Promotions president Tyler Buxton believes in Ennis’s talent, saying he expects it to come to the fore even on his debut.
“Jerone is an elite boxer and joins a stable full of the best talent that Jamaica has to offer. We are confident that his skills and determination will shine through in his debut fight against Fernandez,” said Buxton.
Ennis, a 24-year-old born in Denham Town, first fought for Jamaica at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England, making it to the quarterfinal stage.
He becomes the fifth Jamaican fighter on United’s roster, joining undefeated heavyweight Ricardo ‘Big 12’ Brown, powerful middleweight Kemahl ‘The Hitman’ Russell, undefeated super welterweight Joshua ‘HellRazor’ Frazer, and talented super middleweight Shakeel ‘The Jamaican Juggernaut’ Phinn.
