Munn-Barrow returns as JGA president
JODI MUNN-BARROW has been returned to her position as president of the Jamaica Golf Association (JGA) for a second term, running unopposed in the recent elections held at the Constant Golf Club in St Andrew.
Munn-Barrow, the first woman to lead the JGA, expressed gratitude for and commitment to her role, emphasising upcoming priorities such as hosting the Caribbean Amateur Junior Championships in July and the ongoing focus on the prestigious Jamaica Open.
“I am truly honoured to continue serving as president of the Jamaica Golf Association,” Munn-Barrow remarked.
“I look forward to collaborating with our new executive committee. Our immediate focus will be on successfully organising the Caribbean Amateur Junior Championships, followed by our continued dedication to enhancing the Jamaica Open. I am thankful for the support of our capable committee and privileged to lead this esteemed organisation.”
Munn-Barrow was nominated by Peter Chin, the immediate past president and a devoted golfer who also heads the Jamaica Open Golf Championship committee. The election also saw Dr Mark Newnham returning unopposed as vice-president, nominated by Robert Chin.
Joining them on the executive committee are William Brown as treasurer, Fred Sutherland as honourary secretary, Alison Reid as junior golf chairperson, and Rowena Coe as ladies representative.
The committee also includes Dave Lyn, Vikram Dhiman, Robert Chin, as well as first-time JGA executives Teddy Alexander and Dave Cameron.
STELLAR LINE-UP
In the meantime, as anticipation builds for the Caribbean Amateur Junior Golf Championships, the JGA has unveiled a stellar line-up for the prestigious event.
Led by seasoned coaches Jason Lopez and Jonathan Newnham, Jamaica’s national contingent promises a blend of experienced talent and promising newcomers across various age categories.
In the Boys 18 and Under category, national amateur champion Trey Williams headlines alongside Aman Dhiman and Ryan Lue, with Noah Azan and Jerone Thomas ready to step in.
For the Boys 15 and Under division, Kemari Morris, Dagin Hogan, and Cameron Coe emerged as key players, supported by reserve, Jamal Stewart.
In the Boys 11-13 group, Shasa Redlefsen aims to showcase his abilities on the course.
Mattea Issa leads the charge in the Girls 18 & Under category, accompanied by Kierra Williams while Anoushka Khatri is the reserve. Olivia-Marie Green will represent Jamaica in the Girls 15 and Under division while Alessandra Coe and Mallaina Williams compete in the Girls 11-13 category.
