Scotia ‘A’, MOE clash in Business House senior netball final

New champions will be crowned today in the Business House senior netball competition. Scotia ‘A’ will go up against Ministry of Education (MOE) ‘A’ in the feature game at 7:30 p.m. Five finals are scheduled for today at the National Indoor Sports Centre.

The Winston Nevers-coached Scotia ‘A’ team turned back defending champions National Housing Trust 40-35 in their semi final encounter on Tuesday at the Leila Robinson Courts, in a match where both teams paraded several former and present national senior representatives.

MOE booked their spot in the final after topping the preliminary round.

A close contest is expected in today’s final where the likes of goal shooter Amanda Pinkney, wing attack Naudia Brown, goal defence Kimone Shaw, and centre Samantha Mundle will carry the fight for the commercial bank team.

Former national senior skipper Paula Thompson at centre, goal shooter Petal Smith along with Zaudi Green and Kestina Sturridge are expected to set the pace for the Nardia Hanson-coached MOE team.

Both coaches are very cautious ahead of the encounter.

“They are a very determined group and we are hungry. It is going to be a ding dong contest, as it has been a long while for our team. But we are very confident,” said Hanson.

Nevers thinks his opponents are very tough.

“MOE are a very tough team. They are spearheaded by the experienced Thompson and it is going to be a tight one. But, once my players stick to the game plan I expect them to come out on top,” said the veteran coach.

RJRGLEANER vs Appliance Traders Limited

Nevers will be seeking to walk away with three titles, as he is also the coach of Scotia ‘B’ and the RJRGLEANER team.

RJRGLEANER will take on Appliance Traders Limited in the Major League B final in the penultimate game at 6 p.m. Captain Tamara Hylton at wing attack will spearhead the news team which will also include goalkeeper Malysha Kelly, along with Meleicia Myles and Jennifer ‘Jenny Jenny’ Small.

Action will begin at 2 p.m. with the Junior League final where Seprod ‘B’ will meet UWI ‘B’, and will be followed by the Intermediate B finals at 3 p.m. with Heart Trust going up against Ministry of Health and Wellness. Coach Nevers will be gunning for his first title when Scotia ‘B’ battle Grace Kennedy in Intermediate ‘A’ action at 4 :30 p.m.
