PM insists coalition stronger and united

BASSETERRE, St Kitts (CMC):

Prime Minister Dr Timothy Harris has acknowledged that the last five years have been challenging and difficult for his coalition administration, but maintains that the government has achieved much as it prepares for a general election constitutionally due in August.

Harris told a church service that his coalition, comprising his People’s Labour Party, People’s Action Movement and Concerned Citizens Movement that formed the government in 2015, was “strong and united.

“Over the last five years, we have faced our share of challenges and difficulties, and we are standing today strong as a team committed to the people of St Kitts and Nevis,” Harris told the congregation that included Cabinet members and other senior government officials.

He said that the Cabinet had a shared belief and faith in God and the power of prayer.

“At each Cabinet setting, we ensure that every member of the Cabinet, by rotation, gets the opportunity to invoke God and to bless the efforts of our administration on behalf of the people.

“I want to leave behind a legacy of having given every waking moment in furtherance of the agenda of the people of St Kitts and Nevis and to leave the Federation a better place than I had inherited it.”

Harris’ coalition will face the main opposition St Kitts-Nevis Labour Party headed by former prime minister, Dr Denzil Douglas on the upcoming elections.
