The JMMB media appreciation breakfast lyme, held at the SportsMax Zone on Trafalgar Road was filled with high energy, joy and a bit of sorrow.

The lyme, held last Friday, was to show their appreciation to media personnel, and as part of the morning's entertainment, it was held during the FIFA World Cup quarter-final match between Brazil and the Netherlands.

Media personnel and other specially invited guests came out clad in the team colours. Everyone was greeted with a warm welcome from the JMMB staff and given name tags with the name of the team they were supporting.

The zone was decorated with flags of all the participating countries in the World Cup. Television sets were strategically placed in different areas of the venue, but it was on the massive 20x15-foot screen that most persons focused. Before the game began, guests sat down to some good 'ol' Jamaican breakfast of ackee and salt fish, fried dumplings, callaloo, banana and sweet potatoes, accompanied with assorted fruit juices, tea and coffee.

Everyone watched intensely as Brazil led in the first half. JMMB's Imani Duncan and others who were Netherlands' supporters were sad, but their spirits were lifted in the second half as the Netherlands came back with a vengeance. Their supporters were jumping and shouting and screaming after they equalised. On the other hand, the Brazilian supporters were most distraught; hanging their heads in disbelief as they watched the replay.

It was nerve rattling for both sides. And when the Netherlands scored their second goal their supporters were overjoyed. They screamed at the top of their lungs while playfully jeering the Brazilian supporters, who were now even more heartbroken.

In the end, it was the Netherlands fans who went back to work the happier.
