Patrons who journeyed from across Jamaica and as far away as Germany and Denmark got their fill of food, football vibes and music at the 12th annual Bigga Little Ochie Seafood Carnival held in Alligator Pond, St Elizabeth recently.

The signature jerk fish was a mega hit with the crowd, as well as the garlic lobster and oysters. The 'four-man-power' soup was also special and most persons had to have seconds.

Football enthusiasts were glued to all five television sets for the World Cup Football final. Many called before leaving their homes just to ensure that the game would actually be shown live at the event.

Entertainment package

The evening's line-up matched the great dishes served during the day with artiste Food Kartel asking for the 'dutchie' to demonstrate why the dutchie is the best pot to use in cooking meat. He remixed many songs from well known artistes such as Gyptain, Vybz Kartel and Mavado, which held the attention of patrons and had them begging for more 'foodie' songs after he exited the stage.

Tanto Blacks was another hit as was Bryon Lee's Dragonnaires with Jumo leading the high energy group and whipping the crowd into a frenzy. The 10 Jamaica Cultural Development Commission Festival Song finalists performed their songs for an eager crowd.

Among the other artistes who made the evening a hit, were 75-year-old Calypso Rose who journeyed from Tobago to perform selections from her more than 50 years in the business; Brown Sugar, Gem Myers, Jimmy Riley, Macka Diamond and crowd pleaser Beenie Man who joined D'Angel on stage in performing You are My First.
