Rain could not stop the party because the top men of football were in town for a whirlwind official visit. And, in true Jamaican style, we laid out the red carpet for them.

The visit included the official opening of the first phase of the JFF's Technical Centre Project (Goal Project I), located at the University of the West Indies Bowl of Excellence.

Led by Olivia Grange, minister of youth, sports and culture, a host of the main players in the local football fraternity converged on the Terra Nova All Suite Hotel on Sunday night to welcome special guests. They were the International Federation of Football Associations' (FIFA) president, Joseph Sepp Blatter, and Jack Warner, CONCACAF president and Trinidad and Tobago's minister of works.

Stalwarts of the local football movement were honoured at the function by Grange, along with the president of the Jamaica Football Federation, Captain Horace Burrell, with support from the Sports Development Foundation. Here are some highlights.
