Fun in negril

Then if y'all missed Negril on the Heroes weekend, then y'all missed one kicking getaway as, luvs, the famed seven-mile stretch of beach was kicking like everybody's business!

From Breezes Grand Resort and Spa, Negril, to its sister property, the oh-so-fab and racy Hedonism II, all the way down to Margaritaville Negril, and the risqué west end, Negril was simply dee-vine!

Dears, at Breezes Grand Resort and Spa, it was the staging of the inaugural Hennessy/Absolut Heroes Weekend Getaway and luvs, how!

Pumpkins, it was double teaming all the way for Hennessy and Absolut, as Hennessy was the preferred brand for Chef André Eastman's culinary surprises, as not only was the fine brand the toast of his many savory dishes, including his chicken supreme (Hennessy proved the perfect reduction for the mustard glaze), but the carmelised rum pudding, topped with Hennessy sauce, simply had guests gorging.

Not to be outdone, there was Absolut crème sauce for the grilled snapper; and the cream of chicken soup, scented with Absolut was a most delightful departure from the usual fare.

Beefcake show

Meanwhile, over at Hedonism II, it was all about the ninth staging of the beefcake show, Mr Caribbean International.

Dears, talk about hot! Well, this does not yet come near to describing the sensational weekend of competition that pitted some 10 contestants drawn from the Caribbean and the diaspora against each other in talent, obstacle/endurance courses, physique and fashion.

When it was all over, Mr Bahamas, Donovan Ingraham, grabbed first place; second place went to Mr Jamaica, Ramone Mitchell; and André Moore, representing St Lucia, ended up copping third place.

Dears, it was hot and steamy as apart from the well-buffed men strutting their manly material for a packed house comprising nearly 70 per cent women from all over the world, male exotic dancer Marlon Birbridge (aka Jamaican Sensation), was the half-time entertainment. He caused the women to scream, as he went through his paces, climaxing with a not-to-be-forgotten hot-candle wax number!

Now, it's all about Hedonism II again this weekend as the fine resort will be staging its annual Halloween Costume Ball and, pumpkins, this is a not-to-be-missed event. The resort is completely overbooked, so for those without confirmed reservations, the only option left is a night pass and, as modestly priced as they are, they too are going like hot patties!

For those in Kingston, however, after many rain-occasioned delays, the Market At the Lawn is set to make its debut at historic Devon House this weekend and it promises to be the place to be!

All systems are in place for the launch of Edward Seaga's second book - the location is The Jamaica Pegasus hotel on November 8, and already the event is oversubscribed.
