Tuesday talk

Broken hearts

1. Expensive Christmas parties left a series of broken hearts in their trail as babymothers and wives were abandoned. Many spouses set out to impress targets and felt that a $12,000 party ticket was one way to send the message. For the ones left at home, creative excuses were manufactured to explain why they were not being taken on the town. Now there is a lot of making up to do since their presence and photographic evidence was quickly relayed by social media.

Poor service

2 . So the public is being counted on to support a worthy fundraiser.

However, it seems someone buried customer service in the rush to get tickets to patrons. Why is anyone expected to walk around with a wad of cash to buy tickets at this time of year when thieves are most likely to pounce? And why are persons who use credit cards being punished with a 5 per cent surcharge?

Drug tests

3. The stories of how drug tests get done are sounding more and more complicated. It seems that getting a urine sample is not as easy as one would have thought. There is anecdotal evidence that athletes have been left on their own to "run up and down" in order to produce their sample. That really doesn't sound right.

Ring time

4. Friends say the up-and-coming star has chosen to remain in the closet and live a life of pretence because that is what will ensure his survival in this society. And his constant companion reportedly told friends that she is ok with that side of him and just wants him to put a ring on it. And he has obliged and done just that.
