With Sharon Hay-Webster indicating she intends to resign as member of Parliament for South Central St Catherine, Prime Minister Andrew Holness says he does not intend to call a by-election to fill the vacancy created by her departure.
"Governments have to take decision, not just for expediency sake but based on what is right. I am not contemplating a by-election right now," Holness said.
Asked whether he is contemplating any elections now, the prime minister said "elections are always (being) contemplated".
A general election is constitutionally due by latest September 2012 but pundits are predicting that Honess would ride the wave of his popularity and have the election before year ene.
