THE EDITOR, Sir:
I write to express how very impressed I was with the recent circus event held at the National Arena on the weekend. I am a Jamaican by birth, but have been living and working in Las Vegas, Nevada for over 10 years.
Las Vegas is truly a city that never sleeps and one that has the widest array of shows and entertainment of anywhere in the world. In other words, there is always something happening in Vegas.
MY SURPRISE
Imagine my surprise coming to Jamaica to visit my parents and seeing the advertisements in the paper for this Circus in the City. I must admit I was only looking for somewhere to take my nieces, and saw it as a great opportunity to bond with them. We went to the Friday evening show, it started on time at 8:30 p.m.. Everything went like clockwork. The entry to the venue was painless, the set up of the venue was great, and access to food and drink was no problem.
The show was not what you would normally expect a circus to be, but it was a 'coming together' of acts from all across the world, including Jamaica. I was thoroughly blown away. In Vegas, we see shows but it's always the same, either Celine Dion or the Blue Man Group or Cirque Du Soleil. Just one act. Circus in the City was a wonderful mix of great talent. It was great family entertainment. Hats off to the organisers!
