Caricom Secretary General, Dr. Edwin Carrington said the regional integration movement has made great strides in recent years, but that 2008 will be a defining year for the region.
The Secretary General said despite several challenges in the intervening years, initiatives that were in the embryonic stages have now come to fruition.
He listed the inauguration of the Caribbean Court of Justice (CCJ) and the establishment of the CARICOM Single Market in 2006, among the major regional dreams accomplished in the last seven years.
Dr. Carrington was speaking at yesterday’s opening session, of the Second Joint Meeting of the Council for Trade and Economic Development and the Council for Human and Social Development in Guyana.
