The government of Trinidad and Tobago has commissioned a committee to review and make recommendations to address violence and indiscipline in schools across the country.
Education Minister, Esther Le Gendre said the committee was being set up in the wake of Tuesday’s stabbing death of a 16 year old student.
Minister Le Gendre said violence and indiscipline would not be tolerated in schools, and called on stakeholders, including parents and religious leaders to join the government to address the issue.
She said a proposal would be taken to Cabinet, to introduce an electronic monitoring system that allows for remote operation of high quality cameras.
The Education Minister is to receive a report on the fatal incident from the Principal, of the Success Laventille Composite School today.
