The joy of reading books cannot be described in words. It is something that you understand only by real experience.
Reading books gives you that much needed break from the chaos in your life. It instills peace inside you, makes you relax and exercises your brain in the process.
When you read a book, it feels great to put yourself into a world the writer has created for you. Ask any avid reader about this, and they, too, will agree that reading a book is just about the same as watching a movie.
During Black Friday weekend, November 27 to 29, Sangster's Book Stores in the Mall and Village plazas will highlight the importance of reading books and gaining new insight on issues that matter to the reader, helping them to have a new understanding of the world around them.
Books make perfect gifts anytime of the year, but for book lovers, Christmas is a special time as you can indulge in the luxury of all types and genres of books. To this end, Sangster's Book Stores has put together a collection of the season's best books, perfect for all tastes, that will make someone's Christmas special this year.
According to Michelle Naraysingh, corporate affairs and marketing manager at Sangster's Book Stores, readers can apply the insight gleaned from books in their everyday life or as a way of building upon the knowledge that already encompasses their minds and enriches their lives.
"We recognise the needs of the Jamaican consumer, and we want to ensure that we provide the best values to Jamaicans. So, instead of shopping online or overseas, we are providing that experience right here in our store," Naraysingh said.
Sangster's Book Stores has made it easy to turn Christmas into great reading with discounts of up to 80 per cent storewide with special discounts on cooking and coffee table books. If you are looking for gifts for children as well, discounts will also be offered on these items.
"Normally, if you had $5,000, maybe you could purchase two items. However, with the discounts, you can get four to five purchases depending on the price range," Naraysingh said.
Meanwhile, X-tra's, who's operator was one of the first to have proposed the Black Friday weekend sales event five years ago, will be having a store-wide sale, with up to 40 per cent off on most items. Other stores participating in the three-day extravaganza include American Jewellers, Anne Martin, ARD2K, Artique, Body Accents, Casa de Parfums, Changes, Closet Cloud and Electro World.
More than 30 stores in the Mall and Village plazas will be offering discounts of up to 75 per cent during the much-anticipated weekend sales event.
