The National Environment and Planning Agency (NEPA) is investigating the cause of a major fish kill in Portmore, St. Catherine.
NEPA says the public should not collect or eat fish from the area since the cause of death has not been ascertained.
"Death to the fishes could be from ingestion of toxic substances or biological impacts," said a NEPA spokesperson in a release.
The fish kill (mainly sprat) is reported from the canal behind Westchester Community in the vicinity of Dawkins Pond in Portmore, St. Catherine.
