On Saturday, March 28, the residence of Dwight and Sharon Moore of Kia Motors Limited was filled with celebratory laughter and joy in honour of the matriarch of the Moore family - Dr Bernice Moore, on her 80th birthday.
The guest of honour beamed with joy as she and her husband, Dr Charles Moore, were greeted at the head table, which was exquisitely decorated by The Occasion Hospitality Services. The poolside gold-and-white themed soirÈe was adorned with gold tablecloth, white-covered chairs and gold tie-backs accented with candle-tower centrepieces. The giant-size columns were draped with turquoise and gold with up lights by Angela Newman.
Guests were treated to a sumptuous menu of cream of pumpkin soup, jerked chicken, barbecue chicken, grilled fillet of fish teriyaki, escoveitched fish, Mexican rice, caramelised sweet potato and crispy stir-fried vegetables, while libations flowed throughout the night.
Entertainment was provided by DiMario McDowell, featuring world-acclaimed top choreographer for Rihanna and Nick Cannon, upcoming movie actor RaddyRich Rohan Lyttle. McDowell, belting out Wild Flower by the Skylark, had guests singing along to Love Has Found It's Way in Our Hearts by Dennis Brown and had the birthday girl enthralled when he sang Happy Birthday in the traditional style, Ms Lou-style and the Stevie Wonder version.
The main entertainment came from the birthday girl's six children, which included a skit depicting Charles and Bernice called From Charlie P to Beezie B ... with Love, starring Diane Marie and Denise, ballads from Natalie, Denise and Diane Marie, and a citation read by all six children - Dwight Moore, Dr Diane Moore Eubanks, Dr Denise Moore-Ebhohimen, Andrea Moore, Natalie Moore, and Christopher Moore. The citation hailed their mother as an educator extraordinaire, virtuous woman, a pure spirit, reigning fashionista of her era, an outstanding wife, mother, and strong Jamaican. It was noted that Dr Bernice Moore raised 35 other children - her brothers, sister, in-laws, nieces and nephews, including Trevor Anthony Whilby Jones and Errol Jones 'Littleman' Whilby - a total of 41 children.
The guests danced the night away to the musical prowess of DJ Ian Daley spinning '80s and '90s hits.
Her brothers Courtney and Constantine Whilby, along with grandsons Dominic Moore, Emmanuel and William Ebhohimen, and granddaughters Shari Moore, Danielle Ebhohimen, Savanah Moore, and Sanaa Moore, as well as family member, Elsie Pennycooke, were among honoured guests.
