Forty two students who were placed in high schools based on the results of the 2015 GSAT bursary will receive a total of $840,000 this year to assist in their back-to-school preparation. They were chosen based on need and academic achievement.
Thirty-four of the students are youth savers at credit unions across the island and the rest were identified by churches and other organisations as needing assistance.
Each bursary is valued at $20,000.
The Jamaica Cooperative Credit Union League (JCCUL), in its role of administering the Credit Unions of Jamaica (CUJ) brand, has been assisting credit unions in sponsoring GSAT awardees for nine years as the movement continues to spread the message of advancement through education, hard work and dedication.
JCCUL congratulates all 2015 GSAT awardees and encourages them to do well.
The CUJ brand will be on full display come this weekend as the title sponsor for Gosplash 2015. The CUJ brand took on title sponsorship this year following its involvement in and the success of the event last year. This year again the event will be staged at SugarMan's Beach in Hellshire, St Catherine and is open to the public at a cost of $700 for adults and $300 for children over three years. Patrons will have the opportunity of signing up for the CONEC Mobile Wallets and to learn more about this method of payment that will revolutionise the payments system in Jamaica. There will be lots of giveaways, fun and games galore. Please come out and enjoy Emancipation Day with the family at a clean, wholesome event.
