A police corporal has been shot dead in Newport, Manchester.
His name has not yet been released, however the corporal was attached to the Clarendon Police Division.
The commanding officer for Clarendon, Superintendent Maurice Robinson confirmed the killing.
However, he would not provide any details on the circumstances under which the cop was killed.
Police detectives are on the scene of the shooting at this hour.
This is the third straight Tuesday on which a cop has been killed.
Last week, Constable Lynden Barrett was killed in West Kingston, and the week before, Constable Crystal Thomas was slain in the same police division.
