Collection MoDA: A night of great fashion
Every fashionista knows Collection MoDA's fashion show is one calendar event that cannot be missed, and they did not disappoint.
Spectators were dressed to impress. Predominantly in black and white, looking as though they should be strutting down the runway, well-tailored suits, sexy crop tops and pants, seductive dresses, and edgy outfits filled the cocktail area of the Montego Suite of The Jamaica Pegasus hotel before the official proceedings.
Show time! The L'Acadco Drummers started with a cultural rendition that got the audience's blood flowing and hearts pumping with anticipation of what was to come. Well, what came after were collections of ready-to-wear, fabulous swimsuits, high fashion, and men's apparel that had women raving and men wanting. The designers included Carlton Brown, Carlton Jones, Jae Jolly, Korto Momolu, Kris Jackson, La Poshe, Franz Christie, and Spokes Apparel.
Favourites of the night were Cesar Galindo, who had the audience raving with his fringed and sparkling creations, and Karen DeFreitas Fraser's Soka, which was fun and edgy. The diversity was one that Collection MoDA has maintained over the four years.
There was an intermission, which allowed for the announcement of the First Global Collection MoDA Grant winner. The duo, Perfect Sense, was this year's winner.
The night resumed with more fabulous designs to die for and a closing rendition by the L'Acadco Drummers. Guests lingered to catch up on the fashion over bottles of Heineken and cocktails.
