The Combined Index of the Jamaica Stock Exchange gained 3,281.87 points or 1.96 per cent to close at 171,105.92 points on Monday.
Roughly 3.2 million units traded on the JSE valued at $31.3 million, with two Lasco companies as the volume leaders. Of the 43 stocks that traded, 26 stocks advanced, 14 declined and 3 traded firm.
Lasco Distributors Limited was the volume leader with 366,363 units or 11.41 per cent, followed by Lasco Manufacturing Limited with 353,515 units or 11.01 per cent and Scotia Group Jamaica Limited with 291,386 units or 9.08 per cent. The stocks with the largest price gains were Scotia Group, Barita Investments and General Accident, respectively.
The JSE Index advanced by 3,705.74 points or 2.37 per cent to close at 159,979.58. The Junior Market Index declined by 23.51 points or 1.04 per cent to close at 2,242.83. The JSE USD Index advanced by 2.27 points or 1.45 per cent to close at 158.38.
