Let's face it, Saint International's Kai Newman is one of the world's hottest. Just check Model.com - the world-respected authority on all things models and, sure enough, she is listed on the 'hot-list'.
And if that isn't enough, you can check her client list for 2015. It included American Vogue, Maybelline, Nordstrom, Banana Republic, Burberry, and Tommy Hilfiger.
And if 2015 wasn't enough of a blockbuster year for the Jamaican beauty, 2016 is shaping up to be even more spectacular. Kai is featured in a 10-page spread of the just-released February issue of the prestigious American Elle. The '70s-inspired editorial features Kai in a series of power-suits in bold colours and seemed to have drawn its theme from the blax-ploitation movement of that transformative decade.
Think the glamazon effect of femme-fatale detective character Cleopatra Jones from the '70s. The creative team around the dazzling production included photographer David Bellemere, fashion editor and stylist Simon Robins, hair by Charles McNair, and make-up by Lisa Houghton.
"Kai's beauty is rare and therein lies her allure," says Deiwght Peters, who has so far carefully crafted Kai's global modelling career. To date, Kai has made many high profile appearances including the ground-breaking American Vogue story with 'Saint-sister' Tami Williams photographed by the iconic fashion lens man Peter Lindberg (whose famed British Vogue cover for January 1990 heralded the era of the supermodels). She has fronted campaigns for Kenneth Cole, Tommy Hilfiger and River Island.
Kai was discovered at age 14 by the Saint boss whom American Vogue.com named as the man behind the 'Jamaican Fashion Wave'.
It is Kai's runway-stomping breakout shows over the past two years that is credited with the 'Jamaican Wave' trend. Kia's first season was impeccably managed, and she clocked runway moments for the industry's best including; Calvin Klein, Gucci, Jil Sander, MiuMiu, Hermes, Tommy Hilfiger, Dries Van Noten, and many others. This catapulted her to the head of fashion modeling's 'new-class ' and Models.com named her among the top 10 new faces of the Spring/Summer 2014 runway season.
Kai and fellow Saint superstar Tami Williams have formed a 'model sisterhood' that has international media buzzing. Interestingly too, both models have been spotted on various international runways adding fuel to the speculation that this could be the Jamaican version (albeit amended) of the legendary Trinity of Naomi, Cindy and Christy Turlington or the modern day 'fashion sisterhood of Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid. Kai is represented by Elite New York, Premier London, Elite Paris and WHY NOT Milan.
Here is a look at Kai's Elle spread.
