An official at the Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) has revealed that 19 of the persons killed during the May 2010 police-military operations in Tivoli Gardens each received a single bullet.

Deputy Commissioner of INDECOM Hamish Campbell told the West Kingston Commission of Enquiry yesterday that eight of these persons were shot in the head or neck.

According to Campbell, the information was contained in 73 post-mortem reports he examined.

He testified that four of the 19 persons were shot in the back while the others had gunshot wounds to the front of their bodies.

Campbell, who is a former detective chief superintendent in the United Kingdom, said the post-mortem reports also revealed that 17 persons were shot twice.

He said three of these persons were shot in the head or neck.

According to Campbell, the post-mortem reports showed that a total 25 persons had head and neck wounds.

Campbell told the three-member tribunal that he did the analysis because he wanted to see if there was a pattern to how persons died.
