THE EDITOR, Sir:
The excitement and anticipation of the general election is now behind us. The electorate had spoken and the results favour the Jamaica Labour Party. Now all the voters are simply waiting to exhale.
The promises made during the election campaign by the then opposition party remains the hot topic on everyone's tongue. Not all believe they are workable. But those who consider them feasible are just sitting at the edge of their seats, ready to cash in on the goodies pledged to them.
On the other hand, the prime minister is confident that these undertakings will become a reality and has assured the voting populace that he has recorded all the promises and that he will make good on them. Therefore, the onus is now on all Jamaicans, no matter which side of the divide you might be, to be patient.
I know that the expectancy of the much-desired relief from the heavy tax burden can result in us taking our eyes off the big picture. But let us bear in mind that Jamaica is on the path to economic recovery. As patriots of Jamaica, I implore us not to pick the fruit before it ripens. Good things come to those who wait.
