The agriculture minister has announced plans to reduce the cess charged on exported conch
Karl Samuda says the plan is to reduce the tax from US$0.75 to US$0.50.
However, he did not indicate when the change would take effect.
Samuda says the reduction of the cess on exported conch was aimed at boosting investment in the industry.
He says the ministry will also be implementing changes to the quota system for the harvesting of conch.
