The Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC) is urging motorists to desist from using the special bus lane provided for its buses along the Mandela Highway.

The bus lane is in place between 6 a.m. and 8 a.m. from Mondays to Fridays for buses heading to Kingston from St Catherine.

JUTC Communications Manager Reginald Allen says both private and public passenger vehicle operators have been misusing the lane provided for the state buses.

Allen also said motorists tend to drive in the lane at high speeds in an effort to get to Six Miles before being detected by police personnel along the roadway.

He is warning motorists to avoid using the special JUTC lane as the behaviour poses serious risks to drivers and passengers.
