Great music, fine food, eye-catching decor and proper service are all ingredients for the perfect event.
So many companies get it horribly wrong, but not so with KW Events and Rentals. The company is a full-service event boutique that offers event planning, decor, rentals, wedding planning and booth construction. KW officially started in December 2014 and is headed by Kerry-Ann Wedderburn and Matthew Leyow
"I was in the event-planning industry for four years and always wanted to branch out on my own," said Wedderburn. "I jumped at the opportunity as it presented itself and took Matthew along for the ride as I required the business expertise that he acquired from being in his family business for over a decade."
Wedderburn noted that acquiring start-up capital was the main challenge.
"We were entering into a business with big overhead costs," she said. "We got funding from a financial institution as well as help from family and friends."
Wedderburn recalled that KW was not initially well received. "All the other industry professionals are all older and more established," she said
"Through hard work and consistency, we are now becoming a household name," she said, opining that these two tenets are what fledgling entities need to make a name for themselves.
She charged: "You have to constantly challenge yourself and keep abreast of new trends in your industry. Do something unique or bold to get yourself noticed and continue to improve on your quality of work."
KW Events and Rentals has always tried to 'stand out'. With so many other players in the market, they have remained refreshingly different.
"For the rental side of the business, we have unique items and options for any occasion," said Wedderburn. "You can always guarantee that you will find a selection that is not available anywhere else. We go the extra mile for our clients and brides. We are known for customer service and rapid response to emails."
The company's curriculum vitae in 2016 alone makes for fine reading. KW Events and Rentals has done everything, from large corporate events to intimate personal gatherings, all with the same level of professionalism.
"Our plan is to have a larger and more central location in Kingston," she said. "We are constantly adding to our inventory so that we can remain a one-stop shop for all our clients and brides. Our next move would be adding a location in Montego Bay."
