St George's College plans to have an ambulance in place for their remaining four games in the ISSA-FLOW Manning Cup preliminary-round Group A games.

The North Street-based school will host Greater Portmore High in group play at Winchester Park today, starting at 3:30 p.m.

The plan to put in place an ambulance team came as a result of the death of St George's College captain Dominic James on Tuesday.

James collapsed during a game between St George's College and Excelsior at Stadium East. He was rushed to the University Hospital of the West Indies in his father's car and was pronounced dead shortly after.

The game was called off after James' death, with Excelsior leading 2-1 in first-half stoppage time.

Now, three days later, the 20-time champions will be back in action.

"We had always had doctors on hand at our games, whether home or away. We had a doctor there at the last game. We normally have a stretcher. Now, plans are in place to have an ambulance service in place," Suzette Mullings-Graham, a vice-principal of St George's College, told The Gleaner yesterday.

"We normally do everything to ensure the safety of players and spectators at our games," she added.

Greater Portmore lead the group on seven points, closely followed by St George's College (6) and Excelsior (4), while Tarrant and Tivoli are without a point.

With the teams engaged in a top-of-the table clash, a highly competitive game is expected. The Neville 'Bertis' Bell-coached St George's are favoured to win at home.
