The Government has told all 63 Members of Parliament to be on standby for a meeting at Jamaica House tomorrow amid the potential threat posed by Tropical Storm Matthew.
Matthew today formed in the eastern Caribbean and the Met Office in a severe weather alert indicated that the system could affect Jamaica as early as Friday.
Leader of Government Business in the House of Representatives Derrick Smith in advising of the Jamaica House meeting said rural representatives will be given time to get into Kingston for the meeting.
The Met Office says on the forecast track, the centre of Tropical Storm Matthew will move through the Windward Islands during the next couple of hours, and move over the southern and central Caribbean Sea on Friday.
It will then move closer to Jamaica and pose a direct threat to the island.
