Tomorrow's Supreme Ventures-sponsored 12-race programme at Caymanas Park featuring the $3.6 million Pick-3 Challenge Trophy over 1400 metres for native bred two-year-olds, offers a Pick-9 carryover of $2.4 million.
This will be conducted from race four to 12, while both Super 6s start anew with guaranteed minimums of $750,000.
The first Super-6 will be conducted from race one to six, the late Super-6 from seven to 12.
We look at the first Super-6 which commences with a high claiming event over a mile to be contested by nine starters including top contenders ORIGINAL TRAIN, RAGING PROSPECT and the up in class hat-trick seeker LEGENDARY PLEASURE, who is extremely fit and is sure to get a good ride from champion apprentice Linton Steadman.
ORIGINAL TRAIN and RAGING PROSPECT are the most accomplished in the field but the two ran poorly behind JAMAI RAJA in an overnight allowance race over 1700 metres last Saturday and have been dropped in class as a result.
RAGING PROSPECT, who was quietly fancied at 12-1, stumbled badly at the start and did not recover but in his race prior to that on September 17, he beat all barring SUPERLUMINAL over 2000 metres in overnight company. The 7-y-o son of He'stherealthing - Raging Fury looks tempting at the weights with only 52.0kg and 2.0kg claiming apprentice Javaneil Patterson riding for trainer Ryan Darby, and is preferred to LEGENDARY PLEASURE and ORIGINAL TRAIN.
Next on the programme is the Pick 3 Easy To Play Trophy over 1500 metres for four-year-olds and up (non winners of two).
Among the eight starters are the recent fast- time winner PARTY CUP, who by virtue of his 16-length victory over 1400 metres on November 5 in a time of 1:28.1, should also have the beating of non-winners of two, with Patterson securing the ride, VESPERS (regaining form), second to BRIDLED PRINCESS on November 12, looks the principal danger.
GREAT FAITH, who went down fighting against MARKET FORCE on her recent debut over 1100 metres, is confidently expected to win the third race for two-year-olds, this over 1200 metres for the Pick 3 "Straight" Trophy. The Gary Subratie-trained GREAT FAITH has most to fear from the Anthony Nunes-trained MIRABILIS, who finished five lengths fifth to the winner in the same race.
TWO STEPS UP, who recently got through in the Stewards' Room, ran well when beaten a head by FIFTYONESTORM in his subsequent race over 1100 metres on November 16 and should rebound in the fourth race over 1200 metres (claiming $350,00 - $310,000) with Shamaree Muir aboard. EL CLIENTE and ROYAL GIRL are twin dangers in a field of 10.
Briefly, the last two races in the first Super-6 should be won by the sparingly-raced YOGA (Wesley Henry up) who has been moving impressively at exercise and in the sixth, it should be PURE AMAZEMENT under top apprentice Bebeto Harvey.
