Motherhood has brought so much joy into my life and has allowed me to grow and become a better person. I am the proud mother of two beautiful children; Aiden my first born and my daughter Arielle. My children inspires me daily and gives me a purpose to continue on this journey called life. I have grown so much as a mother and some of my best lessons are from my children. Lets take this journey together in this space created by the Outlook Magazine - A Mother's Space.
As a lover of beautiful skirts, I started my sewing journey about three years ago. This passion became my therapy and healing after the death of my father and best friend.
This has been one of the most amazing life experiences for my daughter and I, as we share an immeasurable bond dressing alike. We are often complimented for our mommy and daughter duo looks, and have inspired others along the way.
My daughter pushes me daily to just live in the moment. In so many ways, I am challenged to lead by example, and teach her to love herself and to grow strong and not be easily influenced. For this reason, I am charged to remain true to our values and create a true mother daughter bond. We truly enjoy dressing alike, and wanted to share a few mother daughter inspirational looks.
For this festive Holiday season, we opted for looks that are versatile and classic.
The classic red skirt is truly perfect this time of the year. This look can be worn to church or any formal event. The A- line skirt on my daughter Arielle, has minimal gathers while I opted for a midi 1/4 circle skirt with a classic black top. Both skirts I created in just three hours.
Arielle has her own sense of style and opted to match with a simple sheer top. Oh and don't forget the wedge boots she begged to have for the holidays to complete our ankle boots duo look. Her simple choker, gold necklace and the red flower bow, finished off her polished look.
Wearing denim on denim can be tricky, but the key is keeping it simple. The beauty about denim is that it can be dressed up or down for casual days. Heading to a birthday event, holiday house gathering? Why not go for the twinning effect with denim? This look is great with sandals or the classic converse sneakers seen here. Better not forget the pink and white arm candy bracelets to finish off her cute feminine sense of style.
Black and Sequins!
When you think of New Year's Eve, black and sequins surely come to mind. It's that one time of the year that sequins is totally acceptable and doesn't seem tacky. If you are not a big fan of a full sequins look, a simple touch on a tank top will do. Just pair it with a simple DIY pencil skirt, and strappy sandals and simple silver accessories to complete the all black look. Arielle opted for a sequins skirt and a plain fitted tee to balance the mommy effect. Just add silver tights and a matching hair accessory to keep the look dressy and balanced.
You do not have to break the bank to achieve amazing mommy and me looks. The key is to coordinate and keep it simple and chic. Little girls will cherish these moments and will feel oh so glammed up and grown up as they coordinate with you. I love that she is at the age where we can grow together and shre fond memories. I can't wait to witness all the growing and accomplishing my beautiful daughter will do over the years! I'm perpetually proud of her as she has her own sense of style and is comfortable in her skin.
