Delroy Dell, a Jamaican Engineer and former Operations Director for Noranda Bauxite, has been appointed Vice President and General Manager of New Day Aluminum (Jamaica) Limited bauxite operations in St. Ann.
He has been the Operations Director for Noranda Bauxite since 2009, before which he managed the integrated bauxite and alumina operations for Alcan Ewarton from 1989 to 2009, according to a release from New Day.
Dell attended Mannings High School and graduated from the University of the West Indies with a Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering and a Masters in computer science and management.
He will manage the administrative, mining, and shipping operations of New Day Jamaica, formed on November 1, 2016 to take over from Noranda Aluminum.
Dell succeeds former General Manager Antoine Liddell, who has been appointed Senior Vice President of Strategy and Special Projects.
In his new role, Liddell will work between the Gramercy alumina plant in Louisiana, United States and the Discovery Bay bauxite plant.
