Customers can again enjoy fresh produce and vegetables at the Maggi Farmers' Market, with this year's event being staged today, Friday, January 27 along the corridors between Sagicor Life Jamaica and The Jamaica Tourist Board offices on Knutsford Boulevard in New Kingston.
According to Wendy Robertson, culinary marketing manager at NestlÈ Jamaica, there will be fun and exciting activities for the entire family, including the announcement of persons involved in the company's Street Style Ambassador programme.
According to Robertson, the ambassador programme is a sustained and mutually beneficial partnership between community micro-business owners and NestlÈ. The micro-businesses, she said, become extensions of NestlÈ by promoting the company's brand and products within their circle of influence.
"The objective of the programme is to establish an exclusive network of Maggi Street Style Ambassadors strategically positioned in target community zones across the island and to provide real time feedback from vendors and consumers. We also want to create a sustainable and progressive programme demonstrating brand affinity and loyalty," Robertson said.
The Maggi Farmers' Market will be held from 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Customers, Robertson explained, can expect to sample dishes flavoured by Maggi. There will also be a launch of Maggi curry that can be used to add flavour to non-traditional meals.
"NestlÈ prides itself as the number-one health and wellness company in the world. Fresh produce and vegetables are an ideal complement to Maggi. We always love what is fresh and natural, and we are also supporting local farmers, which is important to us," Robertson said.
The Maggi Farmers' Market, she said, also represents the NestlÈ brand's ongoing support for farmers, particularly the members of the Jamaica Network of Rural Women Producers (JNRWP), who will be out in their numbers at the event. Special guest at the event will be Tamisha Lee, the newly elected president of the JNRWP.
