Many people in my generation remember Lindy Delapenha's riveting sports presentations and commentary on television. He was one of the greats."

Dr Paul Wright, who worked alongside Lindy Delapenha on local radio: "He was a wonderful man. Lindy had a passion for perfection and helped a lot of persons. We worked together, and he will be greatly missed."

Fae Ellington, veteran broadcaster who worked alongside Lindy Delapenha on TVJ: "What we need to do as a nation is recognise his contribution to Jamaica and outside of Jamaica."

Allie McNab, former national footballer who worked alongside Delapenha at the former Jamaica Broadcasting Corporation (JBC): "Lindy's life was more than being a footballer. He was a sportsman and a personality. Black people in England owe Lindy a great gratitude for breaking down the black barrier."

Clyde Jureidini, general manager of Harbour View Football Club: "He broke barriers. I worked with him at JBC and he always shared his knowledge. It was an honour to know Lindy, as he set standards. He will be greatly missed."

Minister of Sport Olivia Grange: "His exploits on the football field earned him an induction into the American Black Caucus Hall of Fame. Lindy was also a fine golfer who represented Jamaica for many years in the Hoerman Cup Caribbean competition."
