Lindy Delapenha was among the first seven West Indian sporting greats to be inducted into the Black American Hall of Fame in 1975.
Delapenha, a West Indian pioneer in English football, was inducted along with fellow Jamaicans Olympic gold medallists Dr Arthur Wint and Herb McKenley, and Test cricket greats George Headley (Jamaica); Sir Frank Worrell; and Sir Garfield Sobers of Barbados; and Trinidadian Lord Constantine.
NOTE: Lindy Delapenha's body was cremated, and after a very private ceremony, his ashes were scattered on the 18th hole at Caymanas Golf and Country Club on February 17.
