The correctional officer who is accused of stabbing and shooting his wife has been charged and is to appear in court this Friday.
The Corporate Communications Unit (CCU) said Balfor Barnett has been charged with illegal possession of firearm and ammunition, wounding with intent using a firearm and assault at common law.
He is scheduled to appear in the St Catherine Parish Court on Friday.
It is reported that some time after 4 p.m. on May 14, Barnett was at home with his 35-year-old wife Lisa when a dispute developed.
The police say an explosion was heard.
Shortly after, Barnett was seen running outside with what appeared to be a wound to the abdomen.
It is reported that she collapsed and was assisted to the Spanish Town Hospital by a neighbour.
