Environment advocate Diana McCauley is urging the Government to ensure that proper mitigation initiatives are established to build the country’s resilience against the looming threat of the United States exiting the Paris Agreement.
President Donald Trump, in a tweet, said he will be making a final decision in a few days as to whether America will exit the climate change accord.
The global deal is the result of year of long negotiations among countries to arrive at the goal to strengthen the global response to the threat of the climate change and pledging to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
In an interview with The Gleaner, McCauley says any decision by the US to leave the Paris Agreement could have serious consequences for Jamaica.
She argues Jamaica must prepare.
