National Security Minister Robert Montague has disclosed that five of Jamaica’s most wanted men have been arrested and charged.
Montague who refused to name the men, because of ongoing investigations, said information provided by the public to the police resulted in the men being caught.
The five were caught during several operations which began last week Friday.
Montague also said that since the collaboration with Jamaica Post which facilitates the anonymous sharing of information, “hundreds of letters with information have been sent in to the police through Jamaica Post I have been told”.
Montague was addressing the launch of the ministry’s We Transform programme this morning at the Police Officers Club in St Andrew.
One of Manchester’s Most Wanted, Issachar Williams, was shot and killed in a reported gun battle with the police.
