Sadan Mullings, the Hanover man who was wanted for at least 15 murders mainly in western parishes, was shot and killed in Westmoreland this morning in what has been described as a fierce gunbattle with police.

According to police sources, after the fire fight, an Uzi sub machine gun and a Glock pistol were seized, a police car shot up, and a member of the police team had a bullet lodged in the front of his ballistic vest.

“This is a vicious and dog-hearted criminal,” a high-ranking police officer said of Mullings, who is more popularly known as ‘Saddam’.

The police report that Mullings initially escaped a police dragnet after a fierce shootout in the community of Petersfield.

But minutes later, according to police sources, he was confronted in the community of Whitehouse, where he was killed after another firefight.

Mullings was wanted for the drive-by killing of four people at a cookshop in Bath, Westmoreland on March 18, and several other murders in the parish, police investigators have revealed.

He was also accused of tossing grenades at police personnel when they went to a house in Alexandria, St Ann to arrest him and a crony, Nickoy Treleven.

Treleven was killed in the incident, but ‘Saddam’ escaped.
