A would-be robber was shot and killed by a licensed firearm holder in the May Pen area yesterday
The incident happened about 3:20 p.m. along the Bustamante Highway in the vicinity of the Rio Minho Bridge pathway.
It is reported that two higglers who were selling fruits at the location were held up at gunpoint and robbed by a lone gunman.
While the armed man was in the process of robbing both vendors, a licensed firearm holder then went to the assistance of the vendors and challenged the robber.
The alleged robber retaliated by firing several shots at the licensed firearm holder.
The gunfire was returned by the licensed firearm holder and the robber ran into nearby bushes.
He was later found by the police suffering from gunshot wounds and clutching a Taurus 9mm pistol with a magazine containing ten 9mm rounds and a green bag with items identified as those robbed from the vendors.
He was taken to the May Pen Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
