Opposition Senator Lambert Brown is calling for the Senate to set up a Select Committee on crime.
Brown made the call in a private members motion moved in the Upper House this morning.
He said the committee would hear suggestions from the public on crime-fighting strategies that can be pursued by the government.
The opposition senator also wants the Government to present a comprehensive crime plan to the country.
Brown argued that murders have overwhelmed the country leaving many Jamaicans to live in fear.
