This annual SFP Six-a-Side Football Competition welcomes at-risk youths in the Waterhouse and surrounding communities to participate in a fun and competitive football league to win cash and prizes. The day's activities will be hosted by Ity and Fancy Cat.
The competition will comprise 20 teams, divided into five zones, A to E, with four teams each. Teams will play each other once, in a round-robin format, with the winner of the five zones, and the three best second-place teams, advancing to the next knockout round.
The final is tentatively scheduled for Saturday, November 18, 2017, and there will be prizes and awards for the top four teams, the Most Valuable Player, Leading Goalscorer, and the Most Disciplined team.
Double Olympic 100m gold medallist Fraser-Pryce said: "I am very excited to host the fifth year of this league, and very grateful to sponsors who have been with the competition from its inception and welcome the additional ones who have joined the family. This is the first of two major community outreach via my Pocket Rocket Foundation, and I am appreciative of the fact that I am able to continue the work in my Waterhouse community with focus given to the young men, whil the Christmas treat caters to the children."
Title sponsor is Nike, along with telecommunications giant Digicel and GraceKennedy, for whom Fraser-Pryce is an ambassador. Wisynco, through their product Wata, Main Event, and Toyota Jamaica are also on board.
