Veteran journalist Ian Boyne was yesterday hospitalised after suffering what the Jamaica Information Service (JIS) called a medical emergency.

It was not immediately clear how serious his condition was.

Boyne, the deputy chief executive officer of the JIS, is also a Gleaner columnist and host of the long-running television interview series, 'Profile'.

According to the JIS, Boyne's family was appealing to the media and other concerned friends to honour its request for privacy at this time.

The family also asked for continued prayers.
