Phillip Brown, the man who killed his pregnant girlfriend at her Crystal Towers apartment in St Andrew, has been sentenced to 15 years' imprisonment.
He’ll be eligible for parole after 10 years.
In handing down sentencing today, Justice Martin Gayle said he considered the facts of the case which outlined a tumultuous relationship that ended in the death of Kerry-Ann Wilson, the mother of his child, and who was pregnant at the time with another man's child.
The defence begged the court for mercy noting that the act was done out of irrational rage brought on by a youngster in love, but Justice Gayle remained stoic as the plea was made.
The judge said persons should exercise self-control no matter how emotions may lead them to violent acts.
Wilson's body was found wrapped in a tarpaulin on a bridge near her apartment on Saturday, December 10 last year.
She was beaten to death.
Brown was arrested the following morning after he surrendered to the Half-Way Tree police in the company of his relatives.
