The National Works Agency (NWA) says ffective today it will be making changes to traffic arrangements in the town of Santa Cruz, St Elizabeth.
NWA says a one way system will be implemented and will continue through to January 1, 2018.
* Motorists entering Santa Cruz, travelling from the direction of Mandeville will encounter the one-way system from the intersection of Coke Drive, Institution Drive and Main Street.
* Motorists travelling from Coke Drive will have no right turn at the intersection.
Persons wishing to exit that area must do so at the intersection of Main Street, Retirement Road and the Bypass or via Market Street.
* Motorists entering Santa Cruz from the direction of Lacovia should turn left at the intersection of Main Street, Retirement Road and the Bypass. No right turn will be allowed onto Market Street from this direction. Right turning movement from the direction of Lacovia will be allowed at Institution Drive in order for motorists to enter Main Street.
Community Relations Officer for NWA’s South Region, Howard Hendriks, says the left turning movement will be allowed at the intersection of Institution Drive, Main Street and Coke Drive from the direction of the Bypass.
* Motorists wishing to travel towards Malvern can use Retirement Road or travel to the end of the Bypass, turn right at the Gasmart Petrol Station and turn left on to Centre Road.
Hendriks says the one-way system will be in operation between the hours of 7 a.m. and 8 p.m. Mondays to Saturdays until January 1, 2018. Traffic will flow in the normal way on Sundays.
Hendriks says this new one-way system and restrictions are part of the NWA’s Traffic Management thrust to reduce congestion and improve traffic flow in the town of Santa Cruz.
