Montego Bay United's technical director Timothy Hankinson says that his team was lucky to escape with a point against 10-man Cavalier, yesterday, in the Red Stripe Premier League at Stadium East.
Home side Cavalier went down to 10 players after midfielder Davonte Francis was shown a red card by FIFA referee Oshane Nation in the 25th minute for violent conduct.
However, Cavalier's young guns fought bravely and came away with a 0-0 draw.
"First of all, Cavalier did an outstanding job. They never looked like playing with a man down. Their ability to possess and move the ball around the park, the quickness of their players to individually keep possession or be the player was much superior to ours," American Hankinson told The Gleaner after the game.
"And so even though we are disappointed not to take advantage, there are times I look at this game, and even then, playing a man down, we are lucky to get away with a point," he pointed out.
Coach of Cavalier, Rudolph Speid, said that the red card was a harsh decision that obviously set back his plans.
"I thought we got a harsh red card because our player actually played the ball from in front. I didn't think he went in to hurt the player. The referee had his red card out in a flash and probably could not put it in back," a visibly upset Speid said.
"Our plan was to bring in Chevone Marsh and Alex Marshall, who came in from national duty early this morning, and also Nicque Daley, after a hour and we got chances to steal the game," Speid said.
Cavalier remained in third on 39 points, while Montego Bay are in 10th on 28.
