Anthony Watson, the first Jamaican to compete in the skeleton event at the Winter Games, had a nervous start in his Olympic debut in Pyeongchang, South Korea on Wednesday night (Thursday morning, South Korea time).

  The 28-year-old  US-born Watson made a few errors in his first of  a scheduled four runs and was ranked 29th of the 30 competitors with a time of 53.13 seconds.
 
  The leader in the event  is South Korea's Yun Sungbin with a track record  50.28. 

In the skeleton event each competitor gets four runs. The four times are added together, and the fastest time determines the winner. If two riders are tied (after four runs) they are awarded the same place.
